Efra F. Usmani is a Team Lead and Project Manager of the E-Mobility Department at Power Technology Research (PTR). As a nature lover and a traveler, she likes to see the role she plays as part of the energy transition that helps preserve the planet.
From childhood, Efra loved Mathematics and Physics. This interest led her to opt for studies of Electrical Engineering at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan.
During her studies, Efra found her interest in the power and renewable energy sector and would later do her senior year project on the topic of renewable energy.
She served as Vice-President of the IEEE LUMS Chapter in her junior year and as President of the IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) in her senior year. She was also involved in initiating the first Social Responsibility Program (SRP) of her society along with her twin sister who was working as the President of IEEE Women in Engineering (WiE) LUMS.
During her undergraduate years she did internships at the National Transmission and Dispatch Company of Pakistan (NTDC) as well as in the switchgear component manufacturer company Pak Elektron Limited (PEL) and at Telecommunications Company ZONG.
She graduated from LUMS in 2019, earning an Electrical Engineering degree with a focus on power and renewable energy.
Efra started her professional career as the lead EV charging infrastructure Analyst for the Western and Eastern European markets and in the Power Grid department at PTR. During her time there she worked with some of the biggest Transmission and Distribution (T&D) and E-Mobility clients and was part of projects and research on a global level.
At her current position as Team Lead and Project Manager of the E-Mobility Department at Power Technology Research (PTR), she keeps up to date with the latest trends in the industry and enjoys working in this high-impact field of the energy sector.
Efra is a big traveler at heart and loves the mountains and rivers of the beautiful Northern areas of Pakistan. She spends her weekends going out and spending time with her family, reading books and watching informative documentaries.
