The event, founded in 1995, will attract thousands of seasoned engineers and professionals specializing in procurement, R&D and production management to discover and acquire products and services. As one of the premier events in the world of electrical engineering, CWIEME Berlin stands as an essential destination for both experts and enthusiasts. Anticipating higher visitor attendees and displaying products and services from over 600+ exhibitors, we spoke to Chris Lee, Portfolio Director for CWIEME Berlin to find out a little more.
Chris Lee has been with the CWIEME team since early 2023, and before then he worked across global leading exhibitions and events companies for over 25 years. Chris manages the CWIEME portfolio, covering multiple global events, and is tasked with the important role of leading and transforming the CWIEME brand.
CWIEME Berlin 2024 will be his first time leading the team for the Berlin event, something he shares he has been waiting for since the day he started; ‘’CWIEME Berlin is such an important event for the industry, and our customers. - As the organiser of the largest European event for the industry, CWIEME, what have been the most significant challenges you’ve faced in coordinating such a massive event, and how have you overcome them?
- Could you describe the dynamics of your team and the collaborative efforts involved in planning and executing CWIEME? How do you ensure effective communication and coordination among team members to meet the event’s objectives?
Alex Jade Oxley (Senior Marketing Manager): “At CWIEME Berlin, the team that are involved in the seamless planning and production of our event are made up of core team members who work exclusively on CWIEME Berlin, and centralised team members in various functions across Hyve. We have a CWIEME leadership team in place that are responsible for driving the event objectives, and ensuring all team members play their part. We are very lucky that we have so many skilled colleagues at Hyve, who make CWIEME Berlin such a game-changing event.”
Uliana Zeneli (Head of Operations): “As the organiser of CWIEME, one of the biggest challenges we face is ensuring seamless coordination among exhibitors, attendees, and various stakeholders involved in the event. With a massive gathering like CWIEME, logistical complexities and ensuring smooth operations can be daunting. However, through meticulous planning, effective communication, and leveraging advanced technology, we’ve managed to overcome these challenges. - As a woman leading the organisation of CWIEME, have you encountered any unique challenges or experiences related to gender dynamics in the industry or while managing such a significant event? How do you navigate and address any gender-related issues or biases that may arise in your role as a leader in the industry?
Sabine Lehmann (Marketing Manager): “As a woman leading CWIEME, I strive to set a precedent for inclusivity and equality. We are aware that the industries we serve encounter challenges related to gender dynamics, so by adding my voice and expertise in the planning of CWIEME Berlin, I hope to foster a culture of respect, whilst also making a difference to the future of the event. Our latest initiative, Women in Engineering, exemplifies this commitment by providing a platform to empower and support women in the industry. Through targeted programs, mentorship opportunities, and networking events, we aim to address the gender imbalance and pave the way for a more diverse and inclusive future in engineering.”
